THE GOAL
Build a coherent parent brand & multiple websites for the hospitality group that seamlessly show off the unique brands for each of their four distinct bars
Curate visual brand identities and voices for five distinct brands.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
With cocktail bar names like ‘Killer Whale Sex Club’, ‘Disco Dragon’, and ‘Fuck You Pay Me’, it’s clear this group is not only not afraid to make a splash — it’s a requirement of all their brands.
We built a parent brand and site that encapsulates each concept on distinct pages — with a different look, feel, and set of brand colors and typefaces. It allows guests to preview each cocktail bar in one place, as they ‘step from space to space’ as they navigate through the site.
The group also had ambitious goals for the website of their namesake bar, Pour Bastards. With a strong focus on education, they aimed to have a site whose cocktail menu could be used as an opportunity to share the complex recipes and innovative techniques that went into making them.
To accomplish this, I built a blog-style database that allows site visitors to dig deeper into each cocktail — without overwhelming the average user who is just trying to see the menu at a glance.
I kept page designs clean and sparse, to offset the nearly overwhelming amount of information, including the use of clever hover animations to expand upon unfamiliar ingredient details.
